Shows are invitational to members and non-members, and the Gallery Committee welcomes
requests from any craftsperson who feels ready to mount a show.

This show features furniture, furnishings and accessories designed to take advantage of common manufactured materials, such as plywood, aluminum extrusions, and glass/resin sheets. The modern designs have purity and harmony, the minimal execution exemplifying the aesthetics and proportion of each material.
APRIL

"of curves and colours"
KEN GUENTER
This collection of work demonstrates techniques of bent lamination, lathe
turning, veneering and CNC router work with both colour and humour. The
collection includes chairs, tables, benches, cabinets and lamps as well as
two sculptures that reflect the influence of the history of furniture on
Ken's designs.

BRIAN HOYANO and ANN UUSOJA
Brian Hoyano's jewellery reflects the honesty of ancient folk aesthetics, Asian subtlety, and the machined pristineness of contemporary industrial design. Ann Uusoja's painted silk wall hangings will explore how far she can push her creativity. The seeds are planted, but the fruit they'll bear is still unknown.

GO BIG, GO BLUE
GARY BOLT, LISA SAMPHIRE & MORNA TUDOR
Frustrated glassblowers say, "If you can't make it good make it BIG, and if you can't make it big, make it blue." So this show will either be small red pieces or large blue ones or something else to register dismay at the current trend to demand glass which is ever more decorative (blue is best) and ever more HUGE.

RARE EARTH and COMMON GROUND GORDON HUTCHENS Wood fired ceramics using local clay and ash from our trees will be the metaphor and reality of "
Common Ground", which is both the knowledge and experience we all share, and the actual ground we stand on. Glaze elements drawn from unusual, exotic or uncommon "
Rare Earth" may also be combined with silver, bismuth or gold.

ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS
MARILYN LEE
Marilyn Lee's intent for this show is to present felted wallhangings with designs inspired by architectural details, such as cast iron grate patterns, carved doorways, arches and various salvaged pieces from times past.
SEPTEMBER
September 2 - October 4, 2005
METALPHORS
GREG KAWCZYNSKI
This exhibition features Greg's work in three goups. He will be showing a selection of sterling silver rings, bracelets and chains accompanied by bird and animal miniature sculptures made of bronze and ceramic. He will also be providing sketches on paper and metal alongside wooden and handmade tools used to make his creations.

CIRCLE CRAFT CHRISTMAS MARKET PREVIEW
This exhibition will highlight a selection of some exhibitor's work that will be part of the Annual Christmas Craft Market taking place November 9 - 13, 2005 under the sails and the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. Check out our Christmas Market page for more information.

HEARTS FROM MY HANDS

I am working on a new series of painted wood carvings for this show. Talking to friends about the idea of this series, we came up with a phrase related to the word "heart". The result should be a bridge between traditional folk art and the present.
